FAQ
What Is BlogRush And Why Should I Use It?
BlogRush is a "Cooperative Syndication Network." It's a network of blogs that run a small "widget" on their pages. Each time this widget is loaded it will contain 5 clickable headlines which are the blog post titles to other users' posts. Clicking on any of these links will open a new browser window and load the blog and full post. Users earn "syndication credits" based on each time their blog loads the widget as well as each time any of their referrals (users that signup after clicking the "add your blog posts" link on the widget) loads the widget. They also earn additional credit based on all the activity through 10 generations of referrals. 1 Syndication Credit = having one of their recent blog post titles served inside the widget on another member's blog. What Is A "Feed URL" or RSS Feed... and how do I find it? When you enter information about your blog (for your BlogRush account) you will be asked for a Feed URL. This is the address of your blog's RSS feed. Most popular blog software programs and services have RSS feeds built-in -- however, some do not. If in doubt, see the "Help" pages or instructions for the software or service you use for your blog. Most RSS Feeds are displayed using the common RSS icon that looks like an orange square with white lines. Also, look for an orange icon on your IE toolbar. Click on this orange icon. The URL of the page that appears is your "Feed URL". For more information about RSS Feeds, see Wikipedia's RSS Feed description. Why do you need my blog feed URL? Your feed URL allows your posts to appear within the widget that appears on other users' blogs. Without the feed URL, there's no way for us to display your posts. How can I change my "Feed URL" for my blog? At this time, you cannot manually change your feed URL, but if you would like for us to do so, send an email to support@blogrush.com with "Change Feed URL" in the subject line, and we'll get it taken care of for you. Does BlogRush Violate The Google AdSense Terms Of Service? We can't speak for Google, but they've been asked this by several of our members and have yet to tell anyone (that we know of) that BlogRush is against their TOS. Their TOS is against traffic generation services that "artificially inflate page impressions" which BlogRush does not do. The only traffic BlogRush sends to your blog is natural, REAL traffic when an interested visitor clicks on one of your blog title links they noticed on another related blog. Do we have the option of using different sized widgets, and are there different colors to choose from? Yes, you may choose either a 120x or 175x sized widget for your blog. How Do I Earn Syndication Credits? Syndication credits are earned based on the following formula: You earn credits on your own traffic using a 1:1 ratio. (One credit for each time the widget is served.) You then earn credits based on your referrals traffic (and their referrals traffic) through 10 generations of referrals based on the following ratios: 1st and 2nd generation (i.e. your direct referrals and their direct referrals) 1:1, 3rd - 6th generation = 1:4 ratio, 7th - 10th generation = 1:8 ratio. After all the math is calculated, there is a surplus of 1 headline space (5 spaces in each widget load) for every 10 that are served. So 10% of all the headline space is reserved for BlogRush itself to sell or use. What does (-) negative credits mean on my dashboard? We apologize to anyone that has seen a negative credit balance for their account. This is a minor bug that we are taking care of. Please ignore it for now. We apologize for any confusion. What does "impressions" mean? Impressions are the number of times your widget has appeared on another blog. What Types Of Blogs Will BlogRush Work On? BlogRush will work on any blog that allows javascript to be used AND has an active RSS Feed. It will work on almost all WordPress software (but not the WordPress.com hosted service), MovableType, TypePad, and Blogger (Blogspot.com) blogs, plus others. If BlogRush can be used on Wordpress blogs, why are there people saying that it can't? BlogRush works on any blog using WordPress software, however... WordPress, the company that makes the software, has a free blog hosting service at WordPress.com. Their service is not javascript enabled so our widget won't work on WordPress.com hosted blogs, but will work on Wordpress blogs that are hosted outside of their system (on your own web site). Make sure you watch the video tutorials on how to do this properly if you haven't already. These can be found in the Step-By-Step Tutorial section on our site. How do I get the code to add to my blog? Once you've added your blog information, including your feed URL, just click on the "Get Code" tab to get the code to add to your blog. Check out the Step-By-Step Tutorial section of our site for video demonstrations. How long does my blog post appear within the BlogRush widget? Once your blog post appears in the BlogRush widget of another user's site, it will remain in that widget until the blog visitor clicks away from the site, hits the refresh button, etc. Will my widget appear on each page of my blog (each blog post page)? YES! Your widget automatically appears on each page by simply adding the code per our instructions. How do I delete one (or all) of my blogs? Simply login into your account, click on "My Blogs", and delete the blog that you want to delete. How Do I Refer Others To BlogRush? Simply promote your referral URL via email to friends and/or colleagues, or any other reasonable method.. You will also gain referrals anytime someone signs up as a result of clicking on the widget that appears on your blog.. How Do I Know How Many Referrals I Have? You can login to your account and check your "Dashboard" page to see all the stats for your account. This includes the number of referrals, credits earned, credits used, and traffic you are receiving from the network. How Do I Know What's Going On With My Account? BlogRush may eventually sell the 10% surplus credits to users that want to buy more credits. BlogRush also has plans to sell advertising on its main site and to pursue other partnership agreements which will generate revenue. What Do I Do If I Have More Than One Blog? You can add more than one blog to the same account. Where Can I Report Abuse Or Bugs? If you see a site that shouldn't be in the BlogRush network, or you discover a bug, please send an email to support@blogrush.com. (Thank you.) How Will BlogRush Control The Quality Of Blogs In The Network? BlogRush has incorporated a 100% manual review process. Why was my blog declined, and what can I do about it? You should have received an email notifying you of the reason why your blog was declined, and the process for resubmitting your blog if you think there's been a mistake. Typically, there's a 30-day waiting period before you can re-submit your blogs for approval. When you login to your account AFTER THIS DATE, you will notice an "inactive" notification message, but you will find a "RESUBMIT" button (on that page) that you can use to resubmit your blog for review. Also, this blog post should help, as well. Won't BlogRush Get Abused Like Every Other Traffic Service? We have experienced some "cheating" since we recently launched, and we are working hard to completely eliminate all system abuse. How do I change from using the standard BlogRush widget to the thin widget? Login to your account, click on "My Blogs", click "Edit" that appears to the right of "Flavor:", select the thin widget of your choice, add the new HTML code to your blog. Are There Any Tricks For Getting More BlogRush Traffic? The biggest tip is to make sure that you write effective headlines. Be specific and make your headlines something that will get attention and encourage someone to click. But never be misleading with your headlines. Is it alright to click on a blog post within my own widget? Will it benefit me or that blog's owner in any way if I do? You can certainly click on links within your own widget, and while it will benefit that owner of the blog that you click on, it won't benefit (or harm) you in any way. Is BlogRush Only For English Language Blogs? YES. At this time, BlogRush is only for English blogs. Why won't domains like ".to" and ".co.za" work with your system? Eventually, we'll be allowing most domains. For now, we've limited them to obvious, English-language extensions to ensure that we have only English-language blogs in our system. For now, you can get on our waiting list for your foreign extension or foreign language blog by sending an email request to support@blogrush.com with "Waiting List" in the subject line. Thanks for your patience. Can I put my BlogRush widget in more than one location on my blog? NO! You are only allowed to have your widget in one location on your blog. I have multiple blogs in the same category. Why can't I see my blog posts appearing on the BlogRush widget of my other blogs? You may eventually see the blog posts from one blog appear on the BlogRush widget of your other blogs that are in the same category, however, credits are dispersed evenly throughout the network of sites within your category. Therefore, while you may not see your own blog posts very often on your other blogs' widgets (from the same category), rest assured that your posts are appearing on other blogs within your chosen category. How do I cancel my BlogRush account? Although we hate to see you go, if you wish to cancel your account, simply send an email to support@blogrush.com with "Cancel My Account" in the subject line, and we'll remove your account from our database. We may choose to allow users to manually cancel their accounts in the near future. BlogRush © 2008
